Knowledge of selected high school students on the effects and health risks of alcohol and tobacco products usage
Freslová, Veronika ; Váchová, Alena (advisor) ; Hanušová, Jaroslava (referee)
This thesis deals with the issues of alcohol and tobacco use, their effects on the organism and the associated health risks. The aim of the work, based on information gathered from empirical research, is to map the level of knowledge among secondary school students about the risks of using alcohol and tobacco products and their effects on health. The theoretical basis of this thesis is based on the available professional literature devoted to this topic, at the same time it relies on empirical experience gained from the practice. As part of the empirical part, the thesis involves a questionnaire survey involving volunteers from the pupils of the Secondary Vocational School of Catering in Říčany. By summarising the results of the research investigation, it can be said that general knowledge and information about both alcohol and tobacco products and their effects on health is available to users. Surprisingly, across ages or social groups, smoking is generally tolerated by society as opposed to drinking alcohol. The explanation lies in the fact that smoking does not affect the user's judgement. It can therefore be said that smoking is considered a normal part of everyday life by the respondents asked. In contrast, they are more likely to use alcohol under the influence of a social group and to fit in...

Tichá, Františka ; Kolář, Pavel (advisor) ; Veverková, Kamila (referee)
SOCIÁLNÍ ČINNOST NÁBOŽENSKÝCH OBCÍ ( CČS) OD JEJÍHO VZNIKU DO PADESATÝCH LET 20. STOLETÍ PARISH SOCIAL WORKS IN THE CZECHOSLOVAK CHURCH FROM 1920 - 1955 Autor: Františka Tichá In this work, I pursued the parish social works in the Czechoslovak church from its rise to 1950's. I partially captured an origin of the roots of the Christian church's social works in chapter two. Chapter three describes the rise of the Czechoslovak church and its social works development. The views of some of the Czechoslovak church's theologians on social concerns are captured in chapter four. Chapter five analyzes the social works in three selected parishes. In chapter six, I explained how the Czechoslovak church's teachings were implemented in parishes. Chapter seven discusses the downfall of the social works within the Czechoslovak church after February 1948. In conclusion, I have arrived at an opinion that the social works unions laid out an admirable effort in this field. It is unfortunate that due to the political changes in 1948 the social works unions had to undergo a liquidation.
Ethics in social services: Involvement of peer consultants in social services for people with mental illness
Balková, Miluše ; Holmerová, Iva (advisor) ; Hradcová, Dana (referee) ; Páv, Marek (referee)
Involvement of people with experience of disease as a peer consultant in social and health services is a new phenomenon in the care of people with mental illness. The way the peer consultant works and his involvement in the team of experts is related to the different ethical contexts and aspects that each organization must prepare if it wants to implement this position. The experience of peer consultants is also a testimony of the status of people with mental illness in society, stigmatization and the need to help people in a similar situation. Health and social and cultural aspects of female circumcision
KORANDOVÁ, Vendula
This bachelor's work is concerned with female genital mutilation (FGM) issue, also known as female genital cutting or female circumcision. The work is theorethic, divided into ten chapters, which should help understanding the issue of FGM, as the theme has still been tabu and many people have only marginal information about it. The introduction of the work is focused on the meaning of FGM, on its history and the reasons of performing this tradition. It also concerns with Islam and its association with FGM. It is thought, that this religion supports or even orders the procedure, that's why it's important to correct this belief. Althought we can find some relations between the religion and FGM, the reasons for performing this procedure are mostly hygienic, aesthetical, social or other. FGM has harmful consequences on both physical and psychological women's health. Many girls and women die right at the procedure and a lot of surviving ones have numerous complications during pregnancy or childbirth, but mostly at conception. Unfortunately, conception and the whole sexual life may become very painful for the women and may be accompanied by many psychological disorders. With regard to pain, I tried to outline and compare male circumcision and FGM. There are many organizations around the world fighting against FGM, trying to eradicate it. Many organizations try (at least) to improve conditions, in which the procedure is carried out, e.g. to ensure certain hygienic conditions for the procedure, or to ensure the practice and following care to be carried out by medically trained personnel. There is also detailed overview of the countries, in which FGM is carried out, despite it's banned by the law. In conclusion, midwife, who visited several of these countries and met more than one hundred circumcised women, gives her point of view on the problem.
